John Power Bird Photography

Description

John Power Bird Photography is a repository for my father's bird photographs. Most of the species are british and highlight the breadth of work that he has carried out over the years as a hobby. The photographs are categorised into habitats and the species that you will find there, there is also a special gallery called 'Birds in Flight' that showcases various species in flight. Liaising with my father, I designed and built the site using HTML and CSS with the gallery sections being supplemented by Adobe Flash.

Bodgit & Scarper

Description

Bodgit & Scarper are a fictional building company that I created following a conversation one day. The site that was built for Bodgit & Scarper is a tongue in cheek look at how such a company may want to present themselves to the wider world and allowed me to try to characterise their employees in a simple and clean vector style.

Sentric Music - User Interface

Description

Liaising with Sentric Music I developed a series of static user interfaces that would help to demonstrate the functionality of their web site. The screens produced focused mainly on the user interface in particular the admin and artist sections of the site. Working alongside an account manager, I discussed their needs and user expectations. Following the discussions, I developed the static screens using Illustrator. These screens were then passed over to a development team who built the site based on my designs.

About

A bit about Luke

Hello! My name is Luke and I’m a twenty four year old new media designer.
In 2001 I spent two weeks at a graphic design company as part of some work experience, it was here that I was first introduced to Adobe Photoshop and I’ve been hooked ever since! I love designing and building things whether the product is physical or digital. Characters, web sites, graphics and illustrations are all mediums that I enjoy working in and designing for. Along my travels I have practiced my art and added a B.A. (with Honours) in Interaction Design for Entertainment Media and a Masters in New Media Production into the mix both gained while studying at Liverpool John Moores University. I love nothing more than drawing and creating ideas in my sketchbook and have a growing collection of sketchbooks full of ideas and drawings for use when the need arises. In my spare time I continue this creative lust by reading Tolkien’s work, History, playing computer games, snooker and pool, drawing some more, assembling and painting models and generally exploring lost worlds and techniques that will help me in my endeavours.

Software Literacy: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash, Adobe After Effects, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint.

Skills: Organisation, Time management, Conceptualisation, Communication, Team player, HTML, CSS, an understanding of Actionscript 2.0, web site design, graphics and Illustration. I am also able to implement simple jQuery into web sites.
